Almost six months have passed in which Alpha Motor Corporation did not present a stubborn addition to its as-yet-fictitious but jolly fictional model range. The enthusiastic American ‘manufacturer’ is now making itself heard again. And how. This is the Alpha Montage, an electric coupé with a strong retro design and a price tag of almost €500,000. Indeed, half a million euros.

In December we first heard about Alpha Motor Corporation, a previously unknown American start-up with a predilection for electric retro cars in all shapes and sizes. The company had a modular EV in development with the Icon, but with the Ace Coupé the Americans really put themselves in the spotlight. That small electric coupe with 1980s design would certainly not be the last stubborn EV. Later followed, among others, the equally striking Jax, Alpha Wolf and various derivatives, the Saga and this adventurous Rex. For a relatively long time, Alpha Motor Corporation did not fire a newcomer into the world via digital channels, but with this Montage the company has put itself back in the spotlight.

Alpha Montage.

The Alpha Montage is an intended brother of the Ace and Jax and shares its basis with those models. Although you see something of this in the roof and window line in particular, the Assembly has its own unique appearance. On either side of the tapered bonnet, Alpha has placed huge wheel arches and fenders that flow smoothly into the side sills and wide rear wheel arches. On those front wings we see large round headlights that are not integrated into the body and that together with the hood ornament, the chrome-colored bumper work and the upright ‘grille’ clearly refers to the design of cars from the 1930s. The design of the buttocks and the way in which the tailgate and taillights are designed also hint at models from times long gone. Then we have the spoked wheels with wing nuts and side walltires not even mentioned.

Not only the dashboard, but also the steering wheel looks very classic.

The 4.4 meter long Alpha Montage is 1.85 meters wide and 1.37 meters high. The retro rakker has a 204 hp electric motor that drives the rear wheels and must be able to travel more than 400 kilometers on a full battery. The capacity of the battery pack leaves Alpha unmentioned.

Alpha Motors does not hide the fact that it does not yet have a single car ready for production, but says it is working hard on it. “Have you ever listened to a song that changed the world? That’s exactly what we want to do by bringing our cars to market,” writes Alpha Motor. In any case, this intended world changer is not cheap. Alpha Motor Corporation says it will produce the Montage in a limited edition and each copy will cost at least more than €480,000.
