C3 is 2CV over
With the electric Citroën ë-C3, the French are launching an attack on the less densely populated corner of the relatively affordable electric car. What seems? 10,000 Europeans have already placed orders for the EV.
The Citroën C3 that you can still find at dealers has actually been there since 2016. Next year the C3 will be eight years old, but the model will not have an eight-year career. because a completely new generation will appear in 2024. It has already been presented to Autoland as an electric ë-C3, but it will later also come into the showroom with or without mild-hybrid petrol engines. The electric Citroën ë-C3 can be ordered in two flavors for the time being and currently costs at least €24,240 in the Netherlands, although a variant should be added later that will cost less than 20 grand. European consumers appear to like the Citroën ë-C3. In one month there are already 10,000 pieces preordered.
The Citroën ë-C3 You, which costs more than 24 grand and currently functions as an entry-level vehicle, accounts for more than half of the orders. According to the manufacturer, 56 percent of the 10,000 orders involve the You. The remaining 44 percent is – you wouldn’t expect it – for the more generously equipped ë-C3 Max, which will cost €28,790 in the Netherlands.
The fourth generation is welcome given the age of the current model, although Citroën is still doing very well with the aging model. The C3 turns out to be a success anyway. Since the introduction of the first generation in 2002, more than 5.6 million units have been sold worldwide. Spread over several generations. To put that into perspective: in the 41 years that Citroën sold the 2CV, 5.1 million copies of ‘the Duck’ were sold. Citroën will deliver the first copies of the electric ë-C3 in the middle of next year.
