Enough enthusiasm

It seems that Renault can prepare itself for an intensive production period of the new R5. There are already enough interested parties to create a significant waiting list.
Can the electric reincarnation of the Renault 5 be called a success? It is still far too early for that, but the first signs are favorable in any case. It appears that Renault may continue to expand significantly to meet demand. Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive talks to Autonews apart from the fact that there is already quite a waiting list, the day after the unveiling. “We have a waiting list of 50,000 people,” he said.
However, that does not mean that 50,000 orders have already been received. After all, it is not possible to order yet. “We will open the order books in May and we will start deliveries in September or October.” Cambolive hopes that that deadline will be met. “It is a challenge to have a smooth start-up period and deliver to the first customers by October.” Cambolive expects that the majority of the units, around 60 percent, will be delivered to individual customers and around 40 percent will end up in a (lease) fleet.
