Amazon subsidiary Blink is launching the Blink Mini 2, a new, compact and weatherproof security camera. It offers improved image quality, better performance in low light and more here.

Blink is an Amazon company and provides smart home security devices such as the new Blink Mini 2. This camera has a compact, weatherproof design that can now be used both indoors and outdoors, with the addition of the new weatherproof Blink power adapter available as part of a bundle or separately. The Blink Mini 2 offers improved image quality and better low-light performance. The camera has a wider field of view, with a built-in LED spot for color night vision, and the device is equipped with popular security features such as two-way talk, clear HD video and motion detection.

Compact design
The first Blink Mini has a compact design and the Blink Mini 2 retains the same size, but features an LED spot for color night vision, a wider field of view and improved image quality. New in this generation is that the Blink Mini 2 can withstand outdoor conditions, in combination with Blink’s weatherproof power adapter. Thanks to the Mini 2’s slim design, you can also connect the camera almost anywhere you need it.

Person detection
Blink’s chip supports many of the Mini 2’s key features, including the addition of person detection with Computer Vision (CV) available with a Blink subscription. With smart notifications and person detection, it is possible for the user to only receive a warning when a person is actually detected, instead of an animal or other object.

Privacy
As with all Blink cameras, the Blink Mini 2 gives customers full control over their privacy settings. Through the Blink app, customers can customize privacy and activity zones so they only capture what they want and have the ability to exclude areas. Such as a busy street around the house or property. All image processing takes place locally, on the device.

Works with Alexa
Alexa customers can use the Alexa Blink Smarthome Skills to connect their Mini 2 to an Echo device and receive notifications, control live view on demand, turn their camera on and off, and more. Unfortunately, this Blink Mini 2 does not work with other voice assistants.

Blink subscription
With a Blink subscription, customers can unlock features like person detection, cloud video recording, up to 60 days of unlimited video history, and quick access to watch videos as soon as they’re recorded. Customers can also stream up to 90 minutes of continuous live footage per session. Blink plans start at €3 per month or €30 per year, per device.
