With Android’s data saver, you can limit communications from background apps.
Is your mobile plan limited in data? It is possible to restrict data consumption on your telephone operator’s network if you have a smartphone running Android 7 or 8. To do this, you must activate the data saver, which will prevent applications from sending and receive data in the background. For example, some images will not be displayed until you click on them. There are two ways to activate this function in the “stock” version of Android (the operations may be different depending on the system overlays installed by the smartphone manufacturers):
1 – Through the quick action area
Swipe down from the top of the screen to display the minimized configuration bar, then swipe down a second to access the quick actions area. Look for the icon of Data Saver (swipe left if necessary to display other icons) and tap on them to activate the function. Whether or not the icon is present depends on how the zone is personalized.

Click on Activate in the window that appears. A circle icon is then displayed at the top of the screen to indicate that the function is active.
2 – Via Android settings
In the quick actions area, tap on the gear icon to access Android settings. In the section Wireless and networks, select Data usage, then Data saver.

Toggle the switch to activate the function. You can also define which apps will not have restrictions. To do this, tap Unrestricted access to data.

The list of installed apps is then displayed with switches that you just need to toggle to disable data saving on a case-by-case basis.
