But will it actually come?

Angelelli Automobili Hintegrale

Italy’s Angelelli Automobili, a car maker from Rome, has unveiled a model inspired by the original Lancia Delta. The company wants to build dozens of them, with conventional, hybrid and fully electric powertrains.

Angelelli Automobili named its latest the Hintegrale, which makes the links with the source of inspiration Lancia even clearer. Although ‘integral’ in Italy is also just a name for four-wheel drive. That is what the new creation of Angelelli has, regardless of the powertrain you order. The Italians build the Hintegrale with a 280 hp turbo four-cylinder, with a 400 or 550 hp hybrid powertrain with the same four-cylinder, or with a fully electric powertrain. It doesn’t seem to have fully crystallized yet, because Angelelli is not releasing any pictures for that variant yet. The company does speak of ‘more than 700 kW’, or more than 900 hp.

Angelelli aspires to make both a street version (dubbed Stradale) and copies for track use (named R). The latter for both the unpaved road – under the WRC name – and for the circuit. It looks like it will only build the Stradale with the conventional, non-hybrid powertrain. There should be fifty units, loaded with modern technologies and active aerodynamics. For example, the chassis is 3D printed with a mix of titanium and aluminum, which means that neither welding nor gluing is required. You guessed it: the founders of Angelelli are techies.

See first, then believe

It is quite possible that you have never heard of the name. The company was reportedly founded in 2017. Previously, it designed the Superperformance D-1: a hybrid hypercar with more than 1,000 horsepower. Of these, only computer-generated images can be found on the Internet, making us doubt whether any ever existed in the physical world. For the Hintegrale, we therefore keep our hands open. Although some are eager for a super-fast Italian hatchback packed with modern technologies and retro elements, we think the chance is small that Angelelli will actually build and sell copies. Given the lack of previous products from this group of Italians, first see, then believe. In any case, we can already enjoy the virtual model.
