Another price cut for Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 has again been significantly reduced in price. For the Dutch market, this means that there are now more options for private buyers who want to qualify for a SEPP subsidy.

SEPP, or Subsidy Scheme for Electric Passenger Cars for Private Individuals, was already possible for the Tesla Model 3, but under a strict condition. Only the absolute basic version of the cheapest Tesla, so a rear-wheel drive in white and without a single option, previously remained below the SEPP upper limit of 45 grand. The starting price of €44,990 (excluding delivery costs) announced in January already meant a very significant reduction at the time, because before January the same Model 3 still cost you €51,990.

Tesla is now casually implementing another price reduction, and this time not temporarily. The Tesla Model 3 is now available from €41,990, or €42,993 with delivery costs. The car is therefore another €3,000 cheaper than before, and even €10,000 cheaper than in December! For that money you get as usual a Model 3 with rear-wheel drive and a WLTP range of no less than 491 kilometers, although Tesla itself speaks of 510 kilometers for the model with 18-inch basic wheels. From 0 to 100 goes in 6.1 counts, so nothing to complain about.

Where previously there were no option options for buyers under the SEPP scheme, this is now possible. Even the crazy expensive color red – an option of no less than €2,000 – now no longer exceeds 45 grand. Neither do the silver-colored 19-inch wheels, although the combination of those wheels and an optional color goes just too far. Even a towbar is now an option for subsidy hunters. Anyway: the Model 3 is again cheaper, and therefore even more than before just a strong offer in EV land.

The Long Range versions of the Model 3 are traditionally not eligible for ‘SEPP’, but they will drop in price by €3,000, just like the entry-level model. The Tesla Model 3 Long Range now costs €50,993 with delivery costs. For that money you have a car built in America with 602 kilometers of range, two electric motors and a 0-100 time of 4.4 seconds. The even faster Performance -0-100 in 3.3 counts – will now cost you at least €54,993 with delivery costs.

Anyone who gets in now will soon be driving around in an old model. A heavily facelifted Model 3 is imminent and was leaked yesterday, although there is a good chance that the revised model will push prices up again.

The price reduction does not yet apply to the high brother of the Model 3, the Tesla Model Y. If that changes, you will of course read it here.

addition:

As indicated by several people below, the Performance version of the Model Y does participate in the price reduction. Without delivery costs, that car now costs just under 60 grand.

Another addition:

The Model S and Model X have also been reduced in price. It’s 10,000 across the board. In addition, Tesla is introducing a Model 3 Long Range RWD for the business market. You can read all the details here.
