Apple has officially announced the iPad Pro 2021. The best iPad of 2021 has an M1 processor, which is also in the MacBook Pro, for example, and a mini LED screen. From features, suggested retail price to release, here’s everything you need to know about the new iPad Pro.
iPad Pro 2021 officially announced: you should know this
After months of rumors, Apple has announced the successor to the iPad Pro 2020. The successor largely continues on the same footing, but has some improvements. The most eye-catching is the hardware. The M1 chip makes the switch from the Mac to the iPad.
iPad Pro 2021 in brief:
- New M1 chip is 50 percent faster than previous iPad Pro
- Long battery life lasts all day
- iPad Pro 2021 has Thunderbolt connection
- Largest iPad Pro has Liquid Retina XDR screen
- 5G support for super fast internet
- Improved 12 megapixel TrueDepth camera
- Ordering from April 30, starts at 899 euros

We find a big improvement under the hood. The new iPad Pro is powered by Silicon M1, the Apple chip that is also found in the MacBook Pro (13 inch) and MacBook Air, for example. According to Apple, the M1 processor is much faster than its predecessor and therefore suitable for video editing, for example.
New screen for iPad Pro: mini LED
Furthermore, the new iPad Pro has a Thunderbolt connection. This allows you to very quickly transfer files to and from external devices, such as computers. The largest iPad Pro has a 12.9 inch mini LED screen. This display type excels at showing contrasts. The smaller iPad Pro 2021 with an 11-inch screen has an LCD panel.
Also new: 5G support. The best iPad of 2021 can handle the successor to 4G. That way, you can play games or make video calls with your Apple tablet while on the go, thanks to the fast internet connection.

Apple has also improved the TrueDepth camera. Thanks to a new feature called Center Stage, the front camera follows the main character during video calling. During a FaceTime call you can, for example, move through the kitchen, because the selfie camera continues to follow you.
The new iPad Pro again has a LiDAR scanner. This depth sensor first appeared on the iPad Pro 2020 last year and can be used for taking portrait photos, among other things.
Recommended retail price and availability
The iPad Pro 2021 comes in two screen sizes: 11 and 12.9 inches. The latter has a mini LED screen and starts at 1219 euros. The smaller iPad Pro has a suggested retail price of 899 euros.
You can get the iPad Pro 2021 officially from April 30 order, after which they will be delivered in mid-May. A specific release date has not yet been announced by Apple.
