Apple Books: 3 Things to Know About the iBooks Successor

iOS 12 brings a lot of innovations. One of these additions is the Apple Books app, which replaces iBooks. This is all new.

Apple Books: This has changed

It is the first time that Apple has changed its ‘bookstore’ so drastically. Both the design and the layout have been overhauled. The premise of the new app is to provide a pleasant experience for both writers and readers. In total, three major changes are being made, which we will go through with you one by one below.

1. Read now

In the new ‘Read Now’ tab you will find books that you are currently reading (or listening to). The app automatically makes recommendations based on this. He also takes into account which books you have in your Reading List. They mainly look at the most recently added books and of course the recommendations become more accurate the more books you buy.

2. New store

The ‘shop’ has also been given a new design. In the ‘Bookstore’ tab you get an overview of what Apple Books has to offer. From charts, specially curated collections to offers.

In addition, Apple announced during WWDC 2018 that free books will be given away every now and then. In the Library you can see how many books you currently have in your collection and which titles you have already read.

3. More audiobooks

Additionally, Apple Books has a special section with only audiobooks. These titles are recorded, making them ideal to listen to in the car or train. Of course you can also listen to the audiobooks with CarPlay.

Apple Books is included in iOS 12, which will be released this fall. After updating, the app will automatically replace iBooks. Curious about the new software version? Then read our extensive iOS 12 preview.
