Apple in 2022: 5 products we would love to see

Happy New Year! On behalf of the entire team of One More Thing, I would like to wish you a fantastic 2022! A year in which we can hopefully expect as many Apple products as last year.

It was quite a jackpot in 2020 and 2021. Apple has clearly not let itself be discouraged and will not do so in the coming year. But which products are we most looking forward to? Mark gives his top 5 in this article!

#1 Apple iPhone 14

First of all, I am looking forward to the arrival of the iPhone 14 in 2022. To be honest, I have to say that Apple has taken it fairly easy with the 2021 models and I expect more from the coming year. At the moment, the rumors are scarce, as it will take a long time before the smartphones actually appear. In addition, the messages we hear are, to say the least, far-fetched.

However, there is one message that stands out for me and that is the message of the introduction of the hole punch notch. Apple could just say goodbye to that gigantic runway on the screen of the smartphone with the iPhone 14. Not so disturbing if you’re not used to anything else, but annoying if you regularly switch phones. You can see that it just takes up an unnecessary amount of space and that the screen can offer you much more as a consumer. There will be few people who are really bothered by the notch at this point. But if Apple makes the switch with the iPhone 14, it will undoubtedly be one of the much-loved features.

In addition to the introduction of the hole punch, I also expect the necessary upgrades from the iPhone 14. iOS 16, a 48-megapixel main camera and the A16 Bionic Chip. I am also very curious whether Apple will keep the mini variant of the smartphones or switch to a different strategy. All in all, enough reasons for myself to look forward to September 2022!

#2 MacBook Air (2022)

This year’s 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are truly a gigantic delight. For the first time in years, I’m really excited about an Apple laptop and eager to buy one myself. So you can imagine that after seeing the price tag there was some disappointment. The new Pro models are a significant investment and therefore not a realistic option for many consumers. No problem, because that’s not what the laptop is intended for.

This only makes me personally very much looking forward to a new MacBook Air. If we are to believe the rumors from reliable sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman, we will see that model appear at the beginning of 2022. Just like the 2021 model, the new MacBook Air will also be equipped with a notch, a lot of extra connections and an improved chip. Only in combination with a slightly more affordable price tag. Ideal for people like me who fell in love with the Pro, but for whom the price was a letdown.

#3 Apple iPhone SE (2023)

The Apple iPhone SE was a godsend for many people in 2020. I still firmly believe today that this introduction of this model hindered the success of the iPhone 12 mini. Well, that’s all aside.

I’m very curious what steps Apple will take this year in the field of the third-generation iPhone SE. The smartphone will no doubt get a better chipset and an older design. But where there was previously talk about a design like the iPhone XR, other sources are now talking about the same design as in 2020. What will it be? I am very curious!

#4 AirPods Pro (second generation)

Now that the Apple AirPods are equipped with an upgrade in 2021, it seems very likely that the AirPods Pro are up again. Apple is expected to launch the second generation in 2022. The only question, of course, is when.

It is interesting to see what step Apple is taking with the popular earplugs and to what extent consumers are already willing to make the switch. The previous model relies mainly on the active noise cancellation, but what’s next? If we are to believe the rumors, it will mainly be a step in the field of health tracking and the removal of the stalks on the earplugs themselves. It’s almost inevitable that Apple will come up with more for it, so I’ll be paying extra attention next year.

#5 Apple iPad Air (2022)

The Apple iPad Air (2020) is currently my second favorite tablet on the market. The design, specifications and impressive display are just right in my opinion, making this one of the best products from two years ago. There is a good chance that Apple will launch a new model of it in 2022 and I am very curious how this will turn out.

Obviously, we can expect a new chipset for Apple’s new tablet, but there’s actually an even more desirable upgrade. The addition of Promotion is one that will make my heart beat faster. The 120Hz refresh rate is ideal on the iPad Pro and also manages to control me excellently on the iPhone 13 Pro. How nice would it be if the step would finally be taken in this series next year?
