Aptera’s first line of solar cell cars sold out

Aptera made a restart last year and wants to sell its first solar cell cars this year. Apparently there is a lot of enthusiasm, because the first series of planned copies has already been sold.

Interest in the first 330 available cars was, according to the Washington Post huge. more than 7,500 customers have placed an order. Interest was undoubtedly aroused by the specifications of this highly efficient electric car. According to Aptera, the two-seater achieves a speed of 177 km / h and accelerates from 0-100 km / h in less than four seconds. Even more interesting is how it deals with electricity, according to its makers. On a clear, sunny day, the solar cells must be able to provide energy for a range of more than 60 kilometers. In very sunny places, according to Aptera, the car hardly ever needs to be plugged in.

When the Aptera is charged anyway, it should even be able to get 1,600 kilometers away. That seems unbelievable, but the model is relatively light (at least 800 kilos) and aerodynamic and charges sunlight while driving and at a standstill. It should be noted that Aptera still has a bit of a utopian feel to it. Last year, the brand made a restart after years of silence and it is still said that it is looking for investors. Production of the car has also yet to start and Aptera has not yet been able to prove its claims in practice.

Anyway, if it turns out to be right and to succeed, then of course it is an interesting creation. The price is also not very surprising, it costs USD 25,900 in the United States, which is equivalent to € 21,500. To be continued …
