Are the UTRs located in the mature mRNA?

I am now learning about transcription and translation, among other things, and I was wondering if the ‘untranslated regions’ are in the mature mRNA.

Answer

Hi Anne,

Indeed, both the 5′-UTR and the 3′-UTR are part of the mature mRNA. UTRs have important functions such as regulating translation, but all the details are certainly not known at this time.
