Are you completely done with Instagram and do you ever think sentimentally back to the early days of the platform? Then you should really give the new Glass photography app a try.
Read on after the ad.
Glass is a new app for Instagram users
“We are no longer a photo sharing app,” Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said recently. “People use Instagram to be entertained, but the competition doesn’t lie. We cannot look away and will therefore have to change.”
Clear words. Instagram no longer sees itself as a photo app, but more as an entertainment provider. Not everyone is happy with this course, as we see at iPhoned to the huge popularity of our article on how to delete Instagram. It seems that more and more people are leaving the platform behind, whatever the reasons.
But where are you going then? Recently, an app has been added that is clearly inspired by how Instagram used to be. Meet Glass. This app has been in development for more than a year, but as of this month it is usable for everyone.
Instagram for photographers
In a nutshell, Glass is a social platform where photography is central. Enthusiasts post their best shots and follow other photographers. As soon as someone you follow posts a new photo, this record pops up in your timeline. Of course you can also respond to each other’s contributions.
As far as the run-of-the-mill features that almost every social app has these days. Glass is aimed at people who are disappointed in what Instagram is today, and who are looking for photographic depth.
Snaps are therefore uploaded in full resolution and don’t have to fit into Instagram’s signature square view. You can also view the statistics for each photo to learn from others. This way you can see with which camera the picture was taken and which shutter speed the photographer used.

Because Glass has no ads and is very privacy-friendly, you have to pay for the app. A monthly subscription costs 4.99 euros and if you pay per year you lose 30.99 euros. Fortunately, you can try the app for free, but you must know someone who already has the app. For now, Glass is invite only.
