Software issues

The arrival of a series of important new electric cars from the Volkswagen Group seems to be delayed due to the underperformance of Cariad, the subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group that is responsible, among other things, for the development of the necessary software.
The German Automobilwoche reports that a series of important new EVs from Audi, Porsche and Bentley, among others, are in danger of being delayed. Volkswagen’s subsidiary Cariad, which develops software for the new electric cars, would not be able to complete the software in time.
Within Audi’s Artemis project, which Porsche left at the beginning of this year, Audi is working on an electric flagship in which it may incorporate influences from the Grandsphere study model. That electric sign of autonomous driving, among other things, would come on the market in 2024, but according to Automobilwoche, which is based on anonymous sources, the arrival of that EV has been postponed by three years until 2027. That would mean that the internal ‘Landjet’, according to the rumor mill. baptized Audi only after the electric flagship of Volkswagen, the Trinity, which is planned for 2026, will be on the market. Automobilwoche writes that Audi intends to position an electric SUV or crossover-like high in the market around 2025. That model would be less fortunate in the autonomous area.
In addition, the arrival of the electric Porsche Macan and its sister models from Audi, the Q6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron Sportback, would also be delayed. The development of the hardware side of these electric SUVs would go according to plan, although the development of the software via Cariad would also lag behind schedule. The production start of the Q6 e-tron is planned for the end of this year, but according to Automobilwoche the first copies will not be ready until September 2023 in Ingolstadt. Porsche would therefore also be waiting for software for the electric Macan that it will carry in addition to the current generation available with combustion engines.
