The British Lunaz has once again taken an iconic home-grown car from the scratch and equipped it with an electric powertrain. This time it’s the turn of the Aston Martin DB6.
Lunaz doesn’t shy away from setting the saw on the finest the British car industry has ever produced. For example, the classic Bentley Continental, the Rolls-Royces Phantom and Silver Cloud and the primal Range Rover have been equipped with an electric powertrain. All cars where in a sense the engine was not a huge distinguishing point. That may have made it a little less shocking to turn it into an electric car. The fact that the Aston Martin DB6 is now losing its six-in-line may be a bit harder.
Lunaz takes an original Aston Martin DB6, strips it all the way down to the last screw and uses 3D scans and computer models to map out where the weak points are and what the perfect weight distribution is. Based on that data, the car is fully prepared for the electric powertrain that Lunaz developed itself. It is about the same technique as in the other cars that are being treated by Lunaz. People are still a bit mysterious about the performance that is possible with it, but we do know that there is a choice of a battery pack with 80 kWh or 120 kWh capacity. The maximum driving range is 410 km and fast charging is possible.
The conversion does not stop at restoration and electrification. The Aston Martin DB6 can be put together by Lunaz on many fronts according to personal wishes. Modern upgrades are also possible, such as a navigation system, Wi-Fi and infotainment. Of course, the DB6 is technically tackled on more fronts than just the drive. For example, the suspension and the braking system are heavily modernized in order to be able to release the electrical forces responsibly.
Lunaz already announced that the Aston Martins DB4 and DB5 can also be registered for the Lunaz treatment. Incidentally, it is good to know that the original power sources are preserved, which is such a nice idea. Whoever likes it, should come from a good house. An Aston Martin DB6 including the complete treatment of Lunaz costs no less than €864,000.
