End of a bloodline

Over time, autoland has lost big model names and more will disappear in the coming years. Ford puts a thick red line through the Fiesta model name and Aston Martin puts an end to the DBS bloodline.
It will soon be over for the Aston Martin DBS. The British announce the arrival of a special DBS called Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate. That ‘Ultimate’ addition says enough of course, but Aston Martin clarifies that the DBS line is coming to an end by describing the car as ‘the ultimate finale of a bloodline‘.
With this meaningless image, Aston Martin announces the 770 Ultimate.
Aston Martin says it will only make 499 units of the DBS 770 Ultimate and will unleash that car soon. The Aston Martin DBS 770 Ultimate will be – you guessed it – 770 hp strong. The regular Aston Martin DBS squeezes 725 hp out of its blown twelve-cylinder, although Zagato’s variant of the DBS also kicked it up to 770 hp. Still, the DBS 770 Ultimate should be the sportiest DBS ever.
The Aston Martin DBS, formerly DBS Superleggera. Also available as an open DBS Volante.
The current Aston Martin DBS started life in 2018 as DBS Superleggera but was eventually renamed simply DBS. In addition to a closed version, there is of course also an open DBS Volante. The current DBS in fact succeeded the Vanquish, but it is certainly not the first DBS. For example, Aston Martin supplied the DBS V12 between 2007 and 2012, the top model of the brand based on the DB9 at the time. If we look further back into Aston Martin’s past, we come across the DBS and DBS V8 built between 1967 and 1972.

The DBS disappears, but secretly he gets a successor. Aston Martin snatches the Vanquish model name from the warehouse for its new top model. It does not get its engine in the nose, but behind the front seats. In addition, that power source is not a mighty V12, but a machine with half the number of cylinders: a 3.0 V6 with electrical support.
