Aston Martin presents mighty new V12

The successor to the DB11, now called DB12, no longer has it and the updated Vantage now also has to make do without a big twelve-cylinder. But Aston Martin is not over for the V12. In fact, the brand casually presents a new one.

Unlike the DB11, of which it is a further development, the Aston Martin DB12 has to do without a V12. The 5.2 V12 with two turbos did not only have to be eliminated from that model. The Aston Martin Vantage also lost its twelve-cylinder engine when it was recently renewed. But Aston Martin doesn’t want to hear anything about saying goodbye to the V12. It conjures up a thoroughly renewed V12, a mighty machine that will be installed in the new Vanquish, among others.

The new V12 again has two turbos and generates no less than 835 hp and 1,000 Nm. This makes it considerably stronger than the twelve-cylinder in, for example, the DB11 (up to 640 hp). According to Aston Martin, the V12 has a sturdier engine block, updated cylinder heads, new camshafts and a new intake and exhaust system. The turbos are also new, as are the injectors and the placement of the spark plugs. It is therefore a thorough further development of the previous twelve-cylinder. The DB12 and Vantage do not appear to be getting the V12, as Aston Martin emphasizes that the twelve-cylinder is reserved for its “[…] most exclusive and limited models.” Extensive technical specifications of the new machine are not yet available.

What will the Vanquish with V12 be like? That is still the question. The mid-engine model shown in 2019 appears to have been deleted.
