Asus and Noctua previously released a special version of the Nvidia RTX 3070, and are now teaming up for a special RTX 3080 variant. This graphics card should combine Asus technology, Nvidia’s GPU (with 10 GB of memory) and Noctua’s expertise in cooling.
When Asus and Noctua launched their first collaboration in the form of the special RTX 3070 last year, there was a lot of enthusiasm from the community. And that while the Geforce RTX 3070 was still quite conservatively designed. The GPU has its limitations, such as only 8 GB of GDDR6 RAM on board. The new graphics card should address that problem by providing users with more RAM and a more powerful GPU.
The custom Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 is an upgrade over its predecessor in every way. What about 8,704 cuda cores versus 5,888 cuda cores and 20.3 FP32 TFLOPS versus 29.8 FP32 TFLOPS? Or a TDP of 340 watts, compared to the 290 watts of heat on the older card? That means you need access to good cooling.

And there is a lot to do about that cooling. The system features a quad-slot cooling system with two 120 millimeters NF-A12x25 fans. Compared to the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 from Asus, the Geforce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition is 4.5 decibels quieter (at the typical, automatic speed).
In addition, the gpu temperature is generally three and vram temperature fourteen degrees lower. These are significant differences and interesting things to test when the graphics card is actually for sale.
When the fans are running at maximum speed (something that only happens when a computer is poorly ventilated), the system is still 8.6 decibels quieter and twelve degrees cooler than the aforementioned TUF version. Finally, the GPU is equipped with 10 GB of memory, which is also an improvement compared to the 3070.
Price and availability
Noctua reports in his press release, which has been prepared together with Asus, that the Asus Geforce RTX 3080 Noctua Edition should be on sale from June. Asus later announced that the system will have a suggested retail price of no less than 1,133 euros. The graphics card from the previous collaboration is still seen as a fully-fledged option for many PC builders and currently has a price of 800 to 850 euros.
