Audi is making a new AC charger available for the E-tron. This makes it possible to charge the E-tron faster at home or at public charging points.
The Audi E-tron currently has an 11 kW AC charger on board, but an AC charger will be added to the options list that allows recharging with 22 kW. This of course results in a shorter charging time at home or at a public charging station. According to Audi, the 22 kW charger should be able to fully charge the E-tron 55 in less than five hours at the fastest. The new charger will first be available for the E-tron 55. For the E-tron 50 and the E-tron S, the option will be available mid-new year.
In addition, a new system for the home comes into play: Connect Charging System (photo 3). This is a box with a touchscreen that can be hung on the wall at home, with which the loading can be monitored and controlled. This can, for example, provide top-up during off-peak hours at a favorable electricity price, but also ensure that the power supply in your home is not overloaded when there are many other pantographs. The device can also be connected to WiFi, so that you can keep track of the status via the myAudi app, among other things.
There are also some minor other updates to the E-tron. From now on, when using Active Cruise Assist, which allows the car to follow the lane itself on the highway, you only have to touch the steering wheel once per minute. In addition, new 22-inch wheels will be available from Audi Sport. It is not yet known what it will all cost. The new AC charger for the E-tron 55 and the other novelties can be ordered in January.
