Possibly ‘Q8 E-tron’
Audi gives us a first look at the facelifted version of the car that is now simply called ‘Audi E-tron’. That could change, just like the nose of the car certainly does.
The plates accompanying this story are strongly reminiscent of what we were served almost daily a few years ago. The launch of Audi’s first-ever electric series production car went down in the books as one of the most comprehensive campaigns in automotive history, with an endless string of teasers and a package of press trips from which the world is still recovering. An Audi E-tron wrapped in psychedelic print invariably played the leading role until the unveiling.
Now we see something similar, although the new motif is slightly less distracting. You don’t have to, because not much seems to change. We especially note a new front bumper. The grille gets a new, thick frame, which extends below the headlights. The grille itself is also new. Where the current E-tron even has a lot of horizontal slats in S-shape, the new one gets a kind of honeycomb motif as an interpretation. The air inlets under the headlights are slightly larger, although that is now also the case with the S versions.
Apparently nothing changes at all in the headlights themselves. We also do not see any lighting-related news at the rear, although the lens may be slightly darker. Here too, the bumper is slightly different, with more rounded shapes and an emphatically present ‘diffuser’.
It could just be that the biggest news with the facelifted E-tron will not be found in appearance or technology, but in the field of naming. When he took office, this SUV was, after all, still the only EV from Audi, so the simple ‘E-Tron’ was sufficient, but now a positioning in relation to the Q4 E-tron and the future electric SUVs from Audi is in order. It is therefore called that it will be ‘Q8 E-tron’. We won’t know for sure until later this year, when the eye-catching wrap is definitely removed from the car. Of course, the changes also apply to the Sportback version.
