Audi E-tron GT caught!

In 2021, Audi will launch the E-tron GT on the market, a slick-lined EV that is now appearing in production for the first time. The coach is still covered with camouflage material.

Back to November 2018, the month in which Audi looked ahead at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the E-tron GT Concept on a new member for the all-electric E-tron family. At that time, Audi already confirmed that the E-tron GT was more than just a slick, aligned concept car, because in 2021 it would simply be a production version. That all-electric newcomer has now been snatched out of production for the first time.

Fair is fair: although the coach of the E-tron GT is still fanatically covered with psychedelic-looking sticker work, the appearance of the final production version will not cause major surprises. The E-tron GT Concept already looked relatively production-ready. In contrast to the concept car, this production-ready variant does have visible handles. In addition, the side mirrors appear slightly larger than those of the harbinger shown in 2018. The dimensions of the E-tron GT roughly correspond to those of the A7.

The E-Tron GT does not share its technical basis with the already known E-tron and E-tron Sportback, but borrows technology from the Porsche Taycan. The electric Audi will be on the J1 platform that Porsche uses as the basis for its sporty EV.

If the E-Tron GT Concept is indicative of the production version not only in terms of design, but also technically, we can expect a lot. The study model was equipped with two electric motors that together distribute 590 hp across all four wheels. A sprint to 100 km / h would only take 3.5 counts from a standstill. Its top speed: 240 km / h. More interesting is the action radius, which should be around 400 kilometers thanks to a 90 kWh battery pack. The arrival of several versions is of course not excluded. More later this year.
