The Audi Q4 e-tron is currently the cheapest way to get into a new fully electric Audi. Now that the ‘Launch Editions’ have disappeared from the price list and have been replaced by regular versions, we can see which equipment remains on the bow of the basic version of the Q4 e-tron. Do you have to check the option list for a complete car, or is it not that bad?
Audi Q4 35 e-tron Edition
€48,155
The Audi Q4 e-tron rests on the same platform as the Volkswagen ID4 and Skoda Enyaq, but is of course slightly above those two in the ranking of the Volkswagen Group. The Q4 e-tron is on the price list from just over 48 grand, while the Skoda Enyaq is available from €43,290 and the Volkswagen ID4 is in the order books from €39,190. At Audi you get a 170 hp electric motor and a battery capacity of 52 kWh for the lowest price, good for a range of 335 kilometers. With Skoda you get 180 hp and a battery pack of 58 kWh in the basic version, with Volkswagen this is 148 hp and 52 kWh. In this respect, the Audi clearly offers less value for money.

The basic model of the Q4 e-tron is called ‘Edition’. As an Edition, the Q4 is only available as a 35 e-tron, 40 e-tron and 45 e-tron quattro. The 299 hp top version 50 e-tron quattro is only available from the Advanced Edition. As a 35 e-tron, the Q4 thus achieves a range of 335 kilometers and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9 seconds. The top speed is 160 km/h. Fast charging is possible up to a charging speed of 110 kW. In principle, the Q4 e-tron is painted in the color Pebble Gray, but apart from Auroraviolet metallic, which has an additional cost of €361.79, six metallic paint colors can be ordered free of charge. By Audi standards, that can be called unique.

Rolling does the Edition standard on 19-inch five-spoke light-alloy wheels. 20- and 21-inch alloys are available at an additional cost. Strikingly designed LED headlights provide light in the darkness, which appear to be made up of a single beam with a few vertical bars below. For €1,362 you can still opt for Matrix LED viewers whose light signature can be changed. The roof rails are made of aluminum and there is also an aluminum molding under the side windows. For an automatically operated tailgate, a light and rain sensor and rear parking aid, you don’t have to pull the cut either. Prefer more rear view with a reversing camera? Then you have to tick the ‘Assistance package plus’ for €1,194. You will immediately get adaptive cruise control and parking aid plus (with parking sensors).
Black and digital
Inside the Q4 e-tron, ‘colorful’ is not a word that immediately comes to mind. The seats are upholstered with black fabric and apart from silver-coloured moldings and details, black is the color that strikes the clock. You can also opt for beige, brown or black leather, but you will pay more than €2,500 for this. You will have to find a pleasant seating position manually, because electrically adjustable seats are also on the option list. However, seat heating is standard and clasp your hands always a flattened leather steering wheel above and below. Fully automatic air conditioning is also included, but the temperature cannot be set separately per zone. For that you have to leave another €711.48 at the Audi dealer.
Audi Q4 e-tron
As far as infotainment is concerned, the Q4 e-tron is standard equipped with the Audi smartphone interface with which you can, for example, run navigation via your phone. You can then operate those functions via the touchscreen. Both the front and the back are two USB-C connections to be able to charge phones or other electrical devices from all passengers. The instrumentation is also always digital, but to be able to display your navigation there, you must at least choose MMI navigation plus at €2,406.69. For music lovers, the SONOS premium sound system at an additional cost of €844.58 may be recommended, although the standard system with eight speakers, a center speaker and subwoofer is also not very undersized.
Audi provides lane departure warning and emergency braking system ‘pre sense front’ to safety systems as standard on the Q4 e-tron. As mentioned earlier in this article, you have to pay extra for adaptive cruise control. Pre sense rear, which can detect a collision from behind and prepares the car for a crash, rear cross-traffic assist and blind spot assistant Audi side assist are part of the €1,230 ‘Safety package plus’. These assistance systems are standard on the Volkswagen ID4 Life. This is how the old Audi principle applies again with the Q4 e-tron. Although in principle the EV has all the essentials on board as standard, you can pay a lot extra for things that are included with other cars from this segment.
