Audi Q6 e-tron on the way

Audi is preparing a new, fully electric model. The car is called Q6 e-tron and will be on the market next year.

Audi will further expand its fully electric range in the coming years. By 2025 it wants to offer 20 models that are fully electrically available. There are not many purely electric cars from Audi at the moment. We know the E-tron, the E-tron GT and soon the Q4 e-tron and Q4 e-tron Sportback will be added. In 2022, the Q6 e-tron will follow, the arrival of which has now been confirmed by Audi CEO Markus Duesmann.

Duesmann reports that the Q6 e-tron will be built in Ingolstadt, in the factory that is being transformed to produce cars on the PPE platform. That immediately betrays what we can roughly expect from it. The PPE base, Premium Platform Electric, is for the premium brands of the Volkswagen Group. Earlier we heard that Porsche will use this base for the new electric Macan, so expect the Q6 e-tron to become the Audi cousin of that car.

If Audi stays true to its naming and corresponding format, the Q6 will be in between the Q5 and Q7 in terms of size. There is also a good chance that, just like with the Q4 e-tron and the Q5, there will be a Sportback version. In terms of specifications, we can count on a lot because of the new platform. That is, after all, another step forward compared to the basis of the E-tron GT and Taycan. Fast charging with 270 kW charging capacity or more and a driving range of well over 500 km is therefore somewhat the minimum effort.

Audi says the Q6 e-tron kicks off the arrival of more PPE-based Audi models. Enough to look forward to. As mentioned, Audi will start production next year, but who knows, the unveiling will take place just this year.
