Audi sees a slower recovery than hoped

Audi takes a cautious balance after the difficult months behind us. CEO Markus Duesmann is now seeing a slow recovery, but slower than hoped for.

The corona crisis has cut quite a bit at Audi so far. Although precise figures are yet to come, CEO Markus Duesmann can warn that the brand will suffer a lot. Opposite Handelsblatt the CEO explains that the recovery will take a long time. Longer than initially expected. According to the German, Audi is expected to return to sales figures before the crisis in 2022 or 2023.

The main disappointment, according to Duesmann, is the hoped-for recovery of sales. The CEO says that it is not yet coming out: “It is slowly picking up again, but it is not the sharp ‘V’ that you hope for,” said the CEO, confirmed earlier this year. “The corona crisis is expected to continue to have a longer-lasting effect.” Audi ceased production in mid-March and resumed it in May. Since then, sales in China in particular have already recovered considerably, but here in Europe and the US things are not going as fast.
