Future for R8 and TT?

Audi’s sportiest models will also become electric sooner or later. Audi seems to want to ensure that they really feel different from the more common models, so a special basis is being developed for this.
Audi will increasingly switch to electric models in the coming years, which means that sooner or later the RS versions will also have to be replaced. They must all be electrified by 2030, and by 2035 they will all be fully electric (at least here in Europe). Parent company Volkswagen Group currently has the PPE platform for the more luxurious electric cars and eventually the SSP platform will be introduced on which a wider range of models will appear due to greater scalability. Audi says it is taking a slightly different path for its sporty models.
In conversation with Coach Technical CEO Oliver Hoffmann says that Audi is working on a base that is more tailored to sporty and ‘iconic’ cars. However, the SSP shelves will be heavily rummaged for this purpose. “There is some room to remove cars from that platform. For these cars we will use modules or systems from the (SSP, ed.) platform.”
The Volkswagen Group currently still uses the PPE basis for its sporty EVs, such as the Porsche Taycan and the Audi E-tron GT. The SSP derivative Hoffmann talks about becomes a lake dedicated story for sporty models and logically also more suitable for more extreme work. Consider not only an electric Audi R8 successor and possibly a TT-like one, but possibly also a more ‘hardcore’ sports car from Porsche and electric Lamborghinis.
