Audi’s new head of exterior design announced

Now that Andreas Mindt is leaving Audi as chief responsible for exterior design, a successor is needed. That will be Philipp Römers. No stranger to Audi.

It was announced this week that Andreas Mindt, who has been leading Audi’s exterior design department for years, is moving to Bentley. There he becomes the main responsible for all design departments. Obviously, therefore, someone must take over his place at Audi and according to Automobilwoche the choice fell on Philipp Römers. The 41-year-old German has been working in Ingolstadt since 2014, after previous work for Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz.

As an exterior designer, Römers was one of the pioneers of the current A6, A8 and the yet to be revealed E-tron GT. In the future he no longer works, as before, on specific coach designs with his own design department. He is now in overall charge of the various departments. It is one of the highest design functions within Audi. Marc Licht is still the head of everything related to design at the brand with the four rings. Römers is accountable to him.
