What are the cars that gave color to the year 2021? All the Auto Review editors weighed in and picked two favorites. This time the choice of editor Bart Smakman.

Tesla Model Y
Tesla has always been the brand of compromises. Models with a lot of power and range, but the panoramic roof was inside out and the car had two left headlights. You had to be a daredevil to buy a Tesla. In the meantime, that has changed and you’re crazy if you don’t buy a Tesla.
The Dutch roads are teeming with Tesla’s Model 3 and the Model Y scores great on sensible topics such as efficiency, interior space and practicality. Add to that the impressive network of fast charging stations and customers for an electric SUV simply cannot ignore the Model Y.

Lynk & Co 01
This plug-in hybrid based on the Volvo XC40 drives comfortably and is well equipped, but that’s not why it’s in our top 10. The Lynk & Co 01 owes this to its original concept. If you buy or lease such a car, you can earn money back by renting it out to others via the online platform of Lynk & Co.
I would never do that with my own car, but if you lease the 01, it’s not really yours after all. Moreover, cars in the Netherlands are standing still 96 percent of the time, so put that expensive boarder to work. I wonder if other car brands will adopt this concept.
