The new edition of the Avast antivirus includes a Do Not Disturb function allowing you to temporarily deactivate all notifications received in Windows.
Avast updates its antivirus solutions in a new 2019 edition. On this occasion, several new features are emerging: a more effective anti-phishing module that does not require the installation of a third-party extension, a sensitive data agent aimed at protect your files containing personal or valuable information, and finally, a do not disturb mode.
This allows you to temporarily stop all incoming notifications when you use certain applications in full screen. Particularly useful for gamers, this new function will also allow you to work without being disturbed by the arrival of new messages, website alerts, etc. It is available in both the free version of Avast and the premium versions of the program. Here is how to configure it so that you are no longer disturbed by notifications.
1. Access the settings
Open Avast on your machine, and go to the Performance tab. Click on Do not disturb mode to access the settings for the feature.

2. Add a listed program
Avast can natively detect applications in full screen use that require do not disturb mode to be enabled and will activate the feature itself. However, to make sure you work or play in peace, you can always add some apps manually.
To do this, click the Add an application button in the Do not disturb mode window.

Avast displays a list of programs installed on your computer. Click Add an app for each of the programs for which you do not want to see notifications.

3. Add an unlisted program
If the program you want to add does not appear in the list offered by Avast, you can always add it manually by indicating its path.
Click Select Path, then select your program from the explorer window displayed on the screen. Press Close to validate your choice.

4. Temporarily deactivate a program
The Do Not Disturb option allows certain software to be temporarily disabled from the setting. Simply deactivate the appropriate button so that do not disturb mode is no longer applied to a program.

5. Customize Do Not Disturb settings
Antivirus software also offers the option to choose what you want to include or not in Do Not Disturb. Click on the button with a toothed wheel to access the options.

If the software allows you to block all alerts from third-party applications, it also offers to disable only Avast notifications, prevent Windows from launching an update, or even automatically add all new software running in full screen.

6. Set up exceptions
Do not disturb mode offers the possibility of setting up exceptions. From the settings dedicated to the option, click the Do not block notifications from these applications link.

In the window that appears, click Add an app, then, as seen in steps 2 and 3, choose the apps to exclude. Any programs added to this list will be excluded from Do Not Disturb and will still be able to send notifications.
