Avatr is considering manufacturing in Europe
The list of Chinese brands that are active in Europe or that want to sell their automotive products here is growing every month. The next Chinese brand that wants to sink its teeth into the European car market has emerged: Avatr.
You may have heard the name Avatr in the car world. Avatr is a Chinese car brand that is not only behind Changan Automobile, but also Huawei and battery manufacturer CATL. In the middle of last year, Avatr presented its first production model: electric crossover Avatr 11. During the IAA in Munich, Avatr presented its second production model, called 12, to the European public, a large electric sedan. Avatr is currently almost only active in its home country China, but within the next two years it will also cross over to Europe. Avatr CEO Tan Benhong announced this to Automotive News during the Munich IAA.
Avatr wants to have four models in its range in four years. It has not yet been decided which models Avatr will sell in Europe. The fact that Avatr’s European expansion plans are considerable is evident from the fact that, according to Automotive News, the brand is also considering setting up a factory in Europe for the production of its cars.
Both the Avatr 11 and Avatr 12 are on what the brand calls the CHN platform and have batteries from CATL. The Avatr 11 has an electric range of 680 kilometers. SUV Avatr 11 has a striking buttocks with an upright small rear window and an almost sedan-like rear deck. The more than 5 meter long Avatr 12 sedan, like the Polestar 4, even has to do without a rear window at all. No European specifications are yet known for either model.
