In September, the average price of a used car on Autoscout24.nl was €20,467. A hefty amount, especially when you consider that last year in that month €17,714 was asked for an occasion on the same website. That the demand for used cars is enormous is once again apparent. In November, the average price of a used car on Autoscout24.nl was already €21,376, significantly more (13 percent) than the €18,825 for which a used car was for sale on average on that website in November 2020.
The increasing average asking price of used cars can be explained by several factors. On the one hand, sales and delivery of new cars are lagging behind due to the worldwide shortage of computer chips.
