New price record approaching?

Entirely in line with expectations, the average price of a used car has risen again after the summer period. Autoscout24 confirms this, which releases the average price of a used car offered on its site in September.
The average price of a second-hand car offered in the Netherlands broke record after record this year. In July and August, however, the average price of a used car did not increase, but that was not very surprising. The used car prices often drop slightly during the summer period, as people are less likely to hunt for another car in the summer months, partly due to holidays. In August, the average price of a second-hand car offered on Autoscout24 increased by just three euros, but in September the price increase turned out to be higher. In that month, the average price of a used car on Autoscout24 was €23,734, €199 more than in August (+0.8 percent).
Almost 24 grand as an average asking price for a used car is of course a considerable amount, but it can be much crazier in Europe. For example, a used car cost an average of €27,791 in Germany in September, €27,849 in Austria and €28,831 in France. The trend for used car prices to fall in the summer is hardly visible elsewhere in Europe. Only in Germany was a decrease in the average used car price perceptible in July, but it is now at a record high. In fact, the Netherlands is the only European country where the average price of a used car has not reached a new record high.
In June, the average asking price for a used car on Autoscout24 was €23,808. We are not at that record amount now, but we are getting eerily close again.
