The Xperia Pro-I is the latest addition to Sony’s Xperia family and this camera monster comes to the Netherlands for a whopping 1,799 euros. For that amount you do get a huge 1-inch camera sensor, with a 24 mm ZEISS lens including variable aperture. We are curious what you think of this camera monster.
Sony Xperia Pro-I is a camera monster
Sebastien got out of bed very early this morning to tap the launch of Sony’s Xperia Pro-I and this phone’s camera promises something: “The Xperia Pro-I comes with a huge 1-inch camera sensor straight out of Sony’s RX100 VII. compact camera has been picked.” In fact, the Sony Xperia Pro-I is the world’s first smartphone with a 1.0-inch Exmor RS image sensor with phase-detection AF (autofocus). According to Sony, this sensor should provide “excellent low-light performance, high dynamic range and beautiful bokeh.”
These are all nice terms, of course, but our review has yet to show whether this camera monster can live up to the incredibly high expectations (and price). In any case, the specifications do not lie. We see Dolby Atmos support, a 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers and 360 Reality Audio. In addition, there is a 4K OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The HDR display is made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and inside the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888.
