AXL SharX-5: ‘New generation’ EV from Canada

AXL Electric Vehicle is a brand new company that has so far released very little about itself. We know that the brand will introduce itself to the world on May 29 at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit in Abu Dhabi. The brand wants to market its goods in the United States by the end of 2024, but wants to set foot on European and Asian soil earlier. More ambitious plans? Certainly. The company already says that it wants to start producing locally and also set up a factory in its home country Canada. AXL Electric Vehicle therefore describes itself as ‘next global electric vehicle brand’.

The Canadian newcomer focuses entirely on electric cars. The first model will be an SUV that will be called SharX-5 SUV, which can already be seen under a canvas on the company’s website. However, AutoWeek can already show you that electric SharX-5 SUV from all angles thanks to patent plates that we have surfaced. AXL Electric Vehicle itself speaks of an affordable car with premium design. In addition, according to its creators, the Sharx-5 SUV is packed with “premium features” and offers an “unparalleled driving experience.”

What exactly can we expect from AXL Electric Vehicle? We are somewhat sceptical. The company seems to have been founded in 2020 and as CEO we find Ali Eslami, working as a lawyer until the beginning of 2020. One works at the company Chief Engineer who has worked at General Dynamics, among others. That is not a small player, but not in the automotive industry. The fact that AXL now indicates that it will set up production facilities in Europe and Asia before it has built a single car seems to us to be overly enthusiastic. Technical specifications are not yet available. In May more will become clear about AXL Electric Vehicle, the SharX-5 SUV and the company’s ambitions.
