The BMW iX3 is the second fully electric model from Munich after the i3. Unlike the other BMW i models, the design of the iX3 has only been modified in detail compared to the X3. How about the standard equipment? In this edition of ‘Back to Basics’ we take a closer look at him.
BMW iX3 Executive
€ 67,410
With its starting price of more than 67 million, the iX3 is in the waters of direct competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the Audi E-tron. In contrast to those two, the BMW has to do with purely rear-wheel drive. The customer can choose from one powertrain: a 286 hp electric motor that enables the iX3 to sprint to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km / h. The battery pack has a size of 80 kWh and fast charging can be done at a maximum speed of 150 kW. The theoretical WLTP range of the iX3 is 460 kilometers.
Colorful
From the outside of the iX3 it is relatively clear that you are dealing with the electric version, but the car does not rub it in your face. The grille is closed, the rear bumper has been smoothed with two silver-colored inserts and a number of i-badges can be found around the car. In addition, there is a light blue border around the BMW logo. The wheels are also specifically designed for the iX3. They have a diameter of 19 inches as standard, 20-inch wheels are optional. In terms of available colors, you can choose from six different metallic paints, none of which has an additional price compared to the standard Mineralweiss metallic.
Those who want to add even more color to the exterior of their iX3 can have the trim around the grille, the inserts in the rear bumper and the accent line at the bottom of the doors in light blue at no extra cost. The window frame can also be supplied in high-gloss black at no extra cost. Other items that come as standard include electrically folding exterior mirrors, parking sensors and all-round cameras and LED headlights. The iX3 also has a panoramic roof as standard.
On-German option list
In the interior, the subtle tone of the iX3 continues. In fact, you can only tell from the iX3 badge on the center console and the light blue accents on the steering wheel, the start button and the selector lever for the automatic transmission that you are in the electric variant. As an Executive, the iX3 is already pretty good in its stuff as standard. The chairs are covered in ‘Leatherette’, a kind of artificial leather. The standard is black, but you can also opt for dark brown without having to pay extra. Additional leather colors are available for the High Executive. The moldings are always glossy black, but if you’re willing to pull the cut, you can choose from four other variants, three of which are wood and one brushed aluminum.
In terms of facilities, you are not really short on the inside of the iX3. For example, the mirrors are automatically dimming and the electric SUV always has heated front seats and climate control with two zones. Live Cockpit Professional and the larger iDrive screen with ConnectedDrive services from BMW are always included. The phone can be charged wirelessly and for those who prefer to listen to the radio, the iX3 has a DAB tuner as standard. Also in terms of safety and driver assistance systems, the iX3 with Driving Assistant Professional (semi-autonomous driving), an adaptive suspension and Active Protection leaves nothing to be desired.
That does not detract from the fact that you can flavor the iX3 a bit more. For an additional cost of € 6,000 you can opt for the High Executive. Then you get, among other things, a head up display, an audio system from Harman Kardon, the aforementioned 20-inch wheels, keyless go and adaptive LED headlights. The only options available separately are tinted rear glass (€ 494.89), black headlining (€ 320.65), an electric retractable towbar (€ 1,174.91) and an extension of the black accents to the grille (€ 212.96 ). So you don’t have to tick endlessly, which is quite special at BMW.
