Where Jeep was once known for its really robust off-roaders, most of the current showroom is full of more lifestyle SUVs. The Compass is located between the entry-level Renegade and über-luxury-Grand Cherokee. For € 34,440 there is one at the door.
Jeep Compass 1.4 Multiair Turbo 140 Longitude
€ 34,440
Jeep introduced the Compass in 2006. The current third generation has been running since 2017. Later this spring the first electrified version will be welcomed, because the plug-in hybrid Compass 4xe is expected in the Netherlands. With a base price of just under € 48,000, it is certainly not the basic version of the SUV. For, for example, € 14,000 less, the customer gets the keys to the bareest Compass. On the motor level, there is little choice with the non-electrified Compasses, because only the 1.4 Multiair Turbo with 140 hp or 170 hp are listed in the price list. In terms of trim levels, Jeep also manages to keep it very clear. The Compass is available as Longitude, Night Eagle and Limited.
The Longitude is distinguished on the outside in some areas. For example, he has to do it with 17-inch alloy wheels, halogen headlights and without tinted rear windows and silver finish. For example, the front bumper and side mirrors are less chic. The white paint color is the basic color in all cases. Inside, the differences between the Longitude and the more luxurious versions are quickly noticed. For example, the slip-on fabric-covered seats, an infotainment system with a screen of 5.0-inch (instead of 7.0) without built-in navigation and a manual air conditioning instead of climate control.
Still, the owner of a Compass Longitude should not be ashamed, because with standard cruise control, DAB +, a keyless system and a multifunctional leather steering wheel, it is anything but a frugal affair in the Jeep. In addition, the Longitude can be dressed up in one fell swoop for € 1,760 with the Business Pack. Jeep then equips the Compass with an 8.7-inch touchscreen with navigation, leather sports seats, automatic climate control and a reversing camera.
