Unlike its big brother 5008, the Peugeot 3008 has never been able to show in this section what it is worth in its basic trim. The crossover has recently had a makeover; a good time to take him there.
Peugeot 3008 1.2 PureTech Active
€ 36,230
At the rear, the facelift of the Peugeot 3008 is hardly noticeable, but at the front, the crossover has clearly been tightened. The LED ‘tusks’, vertical LED strips that function as daytime running lights and turn signals, are a prominent eye-catcher. The grille was also redesigned and now extends optically under the headlights. With those headlights there is also something special going on: where the previous 3008 had two different headlight designs for the halogen and LED viewers, this has now been reduced to one design. The basic model therefore does not come off worse in that respect.
The range of engines actually changed compared to the pre-facelift. For petrol engines, the 1.2 PureTech 130 three-cylinder with 130 hp and 230 Nm is the entry-level model, the strongest variant is, until the arrival of a possible PSE version, the 300 hp HYbrid4. Diesel drivers can only choose from the BlueHDI 130, the BlueHDI 180 has had to leave the field. With the Active trim level, Peugeot limits the choice to the 1.2 PureTech 130. As standard, this power source is linked to a manual six-speed gearbox, for € 39,130 it is also available in combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Boring costs money
Most brands offer their models in white, black or gray as standard. Peugeot does not participate. The 3008 was painted in the ‘Bleu Celebes’ in the photos at no extra cost. Do you prefer a more average color? Then you can pay an extra € 800 for ‘Noir Perla Nera’, ‘Gris Artense’ or ‘Gris Platinium’. The other three colors, ‘Bleu Vertigo’, ‘Blanc Nacré’ and ‘Rouge Ultimate’, have a price of € 950. For the wheels, Peugeot limits the choice of the Active to the 17-inch ‘Chicago’ wheels on the picture. 3008. If you want 18-inch or more, you will have to turn to the more expensive versions.

Furthermore, the 3008 Active has standard rear parking sensors and eco LED headlights. These are less advanced than the full LED headlights, so they do not shine in the bends, but you do not have to make it with halogen as standard. Where on the 208 the tusks on the basic version do not shine as standard, they do so on the 3008. Handy for the cold months and foggy mornings: the exterior mirrors are always heated.
Digital
On board the 3008 Active you are already greeted by a digital instrumentation and a multifunctional steering wheel. Thanks to the start button, you don’t have to use the key to start the car, but you do to unlock it. The seats are upholstered in a combination of black and gray fabric with orange stitching to top it off. Decorative strips in carbon look further brighten the door panels and the dashboard, the accent strips are finished in aluminum look. All in all, the interior of the 3008 does not look very scanty. One element that betrays the basic version is the 8-inch touchscreen. On the more expensive trim level, that screen has a size of 10 inches.

Navigation is also not available on the Active. However, you can listen to digital radio stations via DAB + and the smartphone can be connected via Bluetooth to make calls and stream music. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included, only from the Active Pack, which is from € 37,150 in the price list, that function is available. In any case, you don’t have to purchase a more expensive version for the temperature management in the car, because the Active has climate control on board as standard. There are also various safety systems as standard: Active Safety Brake, Distance Alert, Lane Departure Warning and traffic sign recognition.
With regard to ticking extras, the same applies to the 3008 as to last week’s Hyundai i20: the options are tied to the equipment level. There are no extras on the Active, but you can opt for accessories such as rubber floor mats and roof racks. The other trim levels are the Active Pack, Allure, Allure Pack and GT. The most expensive version of the GT includes full LED headlights, adaptive cruise control and an Alcantara finish for the dashboard.
For the business driver there are also three versions available: the Blue Lease Active, Blue Lease Allure and Blue Lease GT. With a price of € 34,910, the Blue Lease Active is even cheaper than the regular Active. For that money, things like electrically folding exterior mirrors, the 10-inch touchscreen and a reversing camera are also included. Since this model is specifically intended for the business market, we have not taken it as a starting point for this section.
