Back up Windows 10 in 3 steps

Windows 10

Theft, loss, and Windows crash have one thing in common: you lose files. Making a backup is no fun, but it is your only rescue if something goes wrong. In this article you can read what you can do with AOMEI Backupper to protect you against data loss in Windows 10.

Step 1: AOMEI Backupper for Windows

AOMEI Backupper for Windows is a very versatile program and offers everything you need to make a good backup. Download and install the free version of the program. You can find everything that has to do with securing files behind the button Backup. Data recovery is via the button Restore. Also read: Make a double backup safely and quickly.

You can save your backups on an external hard drive. The storage is cheap and data transfer fast, especially if you use USB 3.0. You can also use the program to make backups to a NAS (network drive).

An external drive is a good backup medium because of the high speed and low price per GB.

Step 2: Full backup

There are several ways to make a backup. With System backup the program creates an image file from Windows and the C drive. With Disk Backup the backup is made of the entire disk. Most disks (and SSDs) are split into multiple ‘parts’ (partitions), for example a C drive and a D drive. With Partition backup you can choose which part of your drive you want to secure.

Consider carefully which scenario is ideal for your situation. The more you secure, the less you lose in the event of a crash or other loss.

Step 3: Securing files

AOMEI Backupper can also make backups at file level. This is especially useful for folders that you use very regularly, such as your folder with documents and photos. The option is called File backup and is an excellent addition to a time-consuming system backup. Go to Backup / File backup and adjust Step 1 the folder (or folders) that you want to back up. Bee Step 2 you choose the location where you want to secure the backup, for example your NAS. click on Schedule if you want to automate the backup. You can find your backups under the button Restore. From here you can have your files restored.

By scheduling a backup to, for example, a NAS, you no longer have to worry about it.
