Sad news from Belgium: Roland D’Ieteren, known from the company of the same name, which is responsible for, among other things, the import of Volkswagen Group cars, has passed away.
D’Ieteren has more or less the status that Pon in the Netherlands has in Belgium. Just like us, Volkswagen cars are imported by a private importer who was there very early. In the case of D’Ieteren, the contract with Volkswagen was signed in 1948 by Roland’s father, Pierre D’Ieteren. The company itself had existed since 1805, initially as a repairer and later also as a builder of coaches.
Roland D’Ieteren was at the helm of the family business for thirty years and was employed there from 1972 until his retirement in 2016. He turned 78 years old and according to Het Laatste Nieuws died from the consequences of, yes, the corona virus. His son, Nicolas D’Ieteren, has been chairman of the board of this special company for years.
