Bentley sprays 90-year-old paint on new cars

Bentley has found a way to do more with its heritage. It brings back 15 colors that have been used in the past, for customers who want something special.

Bentley Mulliner, which deals with the most special custom projects at Bentley, now offers wealthy customers an extra option. They can choose from 15 additional paint colors, each of which has its roots deep in Bentley’s past. Two modern Bentleys have already been given such an ‘old color’ to show it off.

For starters, there’s the Flying Spur V8 painted in ‘Sage Green’. A very light green paint job used by Bentley in the 1950’s. Especially on the Bentley S2, this was a fairly common color for the roof, with a two-tone color scheme. The second example is a Continental GT Convertible finished in ‘Dove Grey’. This is the oldest color in the ‘heritage’ palette, as this color has been on Bentley’s shelves since the 1930s. One of the other options is a special two-tone color scheme called Claret, known from the Bentleys that Queen Elizabeth II regularly allows herself to be driven around.
