Bentley once again does not seem susceptible to the problems that the more everyday car brands face. The noble British brand from the Volkswagen stable crushed the ‘old’ sales record from 2020 in 2021 and thus again records its best year ever.
In total, Bentley delivered 14,659 cars worldwide in 2021. That is no less than 31 percent more than in 2020, when we could speak of a sales record against all trends. The good figures are of course largely due to the SUV from the range, the Bentayga. It experienced its first full year in 2021 in a heavily facelifted form. In addition, a hybrid version was added to the range a year ago, and it now accounts for 20 percent of Bentayga sales.
The Bentayga as a whole has a 40 percent share of total sales. The Continental GT accounts for 33 percent. In 60 percent of the cases it was a coupé, the rest is of course the open variant. The Flying Spur is still the last with 27 percent. However, Bentley expects that the share of the sedan will increase somewhat, because a hybrid version is now also being offered.
America at 1
If we look at the regions, the ‘Americas’ region is again the largest market for Bentley, with growth of a solid 39 percent. However, the largest growth was recorded in China, where sales were up by 40 percent. In Europe, growth is still mild in comparison, but there is little to complain about for Bentley at 15 percent more.
