The Italian design house Bertone, defunct in 2014, is back! Just in time for the 110th anniversary. The first achievement is the special and aptly named Bertone GB110. A hypercar that can run on special fuel.

The famous design house Bertone went bankrupt in 2014, but recently suddenly announced its rebirth. Now the time has come: Bertone presents its first modern creation, the Bertone GB110. According to the manufacturer, it is the first car in a series, so we can expect more from the Italians in the coming years. In any case, the Bertone GB110 is immediately a special case. Although we suspect that the Lamborghini Aventador was used as a basis (Bertone himself speaks of ‘parts from a German manufacturer’, possibly Lamborghini’s parent company Volkswagen Group), Bertone has poured its own sauce over it. According to the designer, inspiration has been drawn from Bertone concept cars from the distant past. We should think of the Alfa Romeo BAT triplets from the 1950s and the Lancia Stratos Zero from 1970.

The GB110, where GB stands for founder Giovanni Bertone, has an unnamed internal combustion engine. If indeed the Aventador was used as a technical basis, it will probably also be its V12. It has been quite tinkered with, because the four-wheel drive and with a seven-speed transmission Bertone GB110 is no less than 1,100 hp and 1,100 Nm strong. According to its creators, enough to spear from 0 to 300 km / h in 14 seconds. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 2.79 seconds and the top speed is over 380 km/h. Furthermore, a special aspect of the engine is emphasized: it likes ‘special fuel that is partly made from plastic waste’. Even though the GB110 is not really progressive when it comes to emissions, it has been thought about an environmentally friendly approach.

Only 33 copies of the Bertone GB110 will be built, the first of which will see the light of day in the spring of 2024. As said, more beautiful things are coming. There will be a whole series of ‘exclusive and limited models’. Welcome back!
