If you’re active on Discord, chances are you only know cool people there. But you may encounter annoying types and then it is useful to know how to block someone on the communication platform.
Discord is a popular messaging service among people who love games, anime, LEGO, music, YouTube and much more. It is an easy to use platform, but despite that it sometimes takes a while to find specific functions.

Block someone on Discord
When you are on a laptop or desktop and using the program, you block someone as follows. You can find the block option on the troublesome person’s profile.
- Click on the name of the person you want to block.
- Then click on the avatar (the circular profile picture).
- A new window will now appear, where you click on the three dots on the right.
- You will now have immediate access to the blocking function. Press that and you’re done.
Are you on your smartphone while you want to block someone? No problem. The way to the blocking function is then slightly shorter. You tap on the name of the person and then also select the three dots in the screen. Even then you tap the blocking function.
What happens after blocking?
Discord immediately processes the block and in the future hides the messages that person leaves on servers that both of you are active on. You can still read those messages if you want, but you’ll have to use a drop-down menu and select the option.
Furthermore, the person in question can no longer send you messages or friend invitations. If you are friends on the platform, Discord will automatically disconnect that connection.
Keep in mind that the blocked user will still be able to see your messages on the shared servers.
It may also help to report such a person to Discord. This way they can keep an eye on someone there and follow someone when they create a new account, and then make your life miserable again.
