Block floating bars while surfing with Unobstruct

Many websites permanently display a share bar on your screen while reading articles. Unobstruct is an app that removes these bars, leaving you with more screen space to read.

Save more screen space with Unobstruct

More and more websites show bars to their readers with which you can immediately share an article via social media. These bars often hang at the top or bottom of the screen, and don’t go away when you scroll down.

Unobstruct offers relief in these situations, because this app ensures that these bars are not visible. Unobstruct has built-in support for a range of popular websites, but theoretically works for any site that is guilty of floating bars. To do this, open the app via the Share menu in Safari, after which the app will work on the website you have open.

Unobstruct is also a good option if you want to keep more screen space, but don’t want to block ads right away. The app only stops the elements that hang over the screen while reading. Other advertisements on the website will not be removed.

Apple introduced adblock options for Safari at the same time as iOS 9. This feature made it possible to create apps that, in combination with Safari, could block advertisements, among other things. It also made it possible for apps to stop harmful sites for children, for example. Adblockers outside of Safari will not be allowed in the App Store for the time being.

Via the link below you can download Unobstruct for about one euro from the App Store. To use the app you need iOS 10 or newer and about 7MB of storage space. The app uses Safari’s built-in adblock feature, so it won’t work in any other browser.
