BMW 2023 R 1250 RS: more options now standard

BMW has given the R 1250 RS a number of updates for 2023, but if you go for the full-option version you will not notice that much. Compared to the current model, BMW has included some options in the basic package with the 2023 version.

BMW 2023 R 1250 RS: more options now standard

Available in Triple Black, Light White and of course BMW’s racing colors Sport Light White/Racing Blue/Racing Red is probably the best way to distinguish the 2023 R 1250 RS from the 2022 model.

In the adjustments BMW Motorrad has made, the focus has clearly been on refining the current bike, rather than a revolution. And especially with regard to the electronic driving support.

For example, with the 2023 version, the DTC Dynamic Traction Control has become part of the standard package, where it was housed in one of the very expensive premium packages with its predecessor.

The Germans also did the same trick on the brakes. In terms of hardware, the same radial-mount Brembo M4.32 4-piston monobloc calipers have been applied with 320mm writing, but the BMW Integral ABS Pro is now part of the standard equipment.

On the other hand, what is completely new is the addition of an extra ECO driving mode, in which the focus has been on optimizing fuel consumption and therefore also the range. The fuel savings, according to BMW, is achieved by a friendlier throttle response and slightly less torque.

As mentioned, the new R 250 GS is now equipped with BMW Integral ABS Pro as standard, but is now also equipped as standard with a completely new Dynamic Brake Control, which should provide more stability in the event of an emergency braking by eliminating unexpected throttle reactions.

The large TFT color display with integrated arrow navigation gives you the choice of different layouts, including a Sport Core Screen that shows real-time information about the current and maximum angle of inclination and the possible intervention of the ABS or DTC. New in the standard equipment are the newly designed LED turn signals and daytime running lights.

The new R 1250 GS offers two different connections as standard, in addition to the existing 12V there is now also an extra 5 volt USB-A connection, currently the most commonly used type of USB connection. Depending on the smartphone, up to 2,400 mA charging current is available.

By the way, expanding the standard package does not mean that there are no more option packages. BMW Motorrad gives you the choice between a Dynamic (MSR, Dynamic ESA, Shift Assistant Pro, Driving Modes Pro), Comfort (Keyless Ride, design option rear silencer, exhaust bends in chrome, heated grips, tire pressure control) and a Touring package (navigation preparation, cruise control, center stand, case holder).

The R 1250 RS has a recommended retail price from € 18,800 and will be available in the showroom at the BMW Motorrad Dealer from the second quarter of 2023.
