320d receives electrical support
BMW 3 Series
BMW has two news items for the 3 Series. It is about the introduction of a new entry-level version, the 318i, and the addition of mild hybrid technology to the 320d diesel version.
BMW will deliver the 3 Series again from March as 318i. The entry-level version has a 156 hp and 250 Nm version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is also supplied in the 320i and 330i but then delivers more power. In the 318i, the engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. According to BMW, the new entry-level version, the price of which has yet to be announced, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.4 seconds.
The other news in the 3 Series is the 320d diesel version. It is now equipped with a 48 Volt mild hybrid system. The powerful starter-generator can supply 8 kW of power for a short period of time, so that the fuel engine can be switched off at low load. This happens, for example, when braking or releasing gas.
BMW starts with the delivery of the 318i and the mild hybrid 320d in March.
