Spot differences

Three years ago, the curtain came off the strikingly designed second generation of the BMW 4 series. Not very long ago, but according to BMW it is slowly time to change things. No, the grille is not changed. At least, not the size of it.
At the beginning of June 2020, the curtain went down on the second-generation BMW 4 Series, followed in September of that year by the M4 and the 4 Series Convertible. The electric i4 followed in early 2021 and that was of course already essentially the Gran Coupé with an electric powertrain, the GC with fuel engines followed in June 2021. The Coupé and Cabrio are therefore the ‘oldest’ of the set and that is why they are the first to go under the knife. New spy photos show both the facelifted BMW 4 Series Coupé and the Convertible. The M4 Coupé is also immediately present.
Just to dispel a possible expectation: BMW does not put the eraser in the striking grille of the 4 series. That remains on all mentioned variants just the large unit that has been on it from the start. However, its interpretation may change somewhat, as we see with the spotted 4-series Coupé. What is definitely going to be overhauled is the lighting of the 4-series. Both at the front and back you can count on a slightly modified light signature, more in line with that of later BMWs such as the facelifted X5 and the new 5-series.
The renewed M4 Coupé is also present.
More small changes? Of course. Count on slightly modified bumper work and possibly the extension of M Sport trim on various versions. In the interior we can probably expect BMW’s latest generation of iDrive. On a technical level, it is still a matter of time to see whether there are many changes in the barrel for the 4-series, there may be more mild-hybrid technology.
