BMW adds the top model of plug-in hybrids to the renewed 5 Series Sedan. Here you will find all the specifications of this model 545e xDrive.
Since the extensive revamp of the BMW 5 Series, plug-in hybrids 530e and 530e xDrive sedan were introduced in July. Similar Touring versions will follow in November. Today, however, is the moment that BMW adds a new top model: the 545th xDrive sedan.
The new plug-in hybrid offers a maximum of 394 hp of system power, delivered by an 80 kW electric motor and a 286 hp six-cylinder in-line twin turbo petrol engine. The forces are distributed to all four wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The maximum torque is 600 Nm. BMW has set the top speed to 250 km / h, of which up to 140 km / h can be driven in electric mode. The 0-100 km / h sprint does not have to take longer than 4.7 seconds.

Because the 400V lithium-ion battery is placed under the rear seat, a luggage space of 410 liters remains. The plug-in hybrid offers four driving modes, with Hybrid Mode as standard; as a driver you can choose whether it should be more economical and greener (Hybrid Eco Pro or Electric) or sportier (Sport Mode). The 545e xDrive has a driver’s sound for pure electric mode to warn pedestrians. For the time being, the electric range has been set at a maximum of 57 km.
