Are you charmed by the BMW Concept Skytop presented last weekend? Good news: BMW does not rule out building a limited series.
Last year, BMW caused a stir at Villa d’Este with the Concept Touring Coupé and the day after the unveiling it emerged that a small production run might be built. The same is now happening with the BMW Concept Skytop presented last Saturday. BMW may also see production opportunities for this.
The Dutch boss of BMW’s design department, Adrian van Hooydonk, says according to Automotive News that a small production series cannot be ruled out. According to him, it depends on how the study model is received (probably among wealthy people). If there is enough interest, about 20 to 25 of the convertible based on the 8-series could be built.
Before you break your piggy bank: BMW said something similar last year about the Concept Touring Coupé, but it was ultimately not put into production. So it is by no means certain that things will be different with the Concept Skytop, but hey, you can dream, right?
