BMW iNext defies the cold

The BMW iNext is eager to enter the market as the flagship of the i-label. Before that, the all-electric SUV must first pass some testing. After a test in the scorching heat of the Kalahari Desert, he now has to prove himself in the cold of the far north.

Next year BMW will release two very important models for the brand; the i4 and the iNext. Where the former becomes a tightly lined crop coupe, the iNext is the electrical alternative for those who prefer to sit a little higher above the ground. Because it is an electric car, it is important to know how the batteries behave under different temperatures. The iNext therefore surfaced earlier this year in Africa, where in addition to the high temperatures, rugged terrain was also a good challenge for the iNext. This time, low temperatures and snow provide a good test case.

Unfortunately for us, BMW has also given this iNext spotted in Northern Sweden an extensive treatment in its camouflage department. As a result, details remain hidden from view, but the sharply shaped headlights and the contours of fairly large ‘kidneys’ in the grille are just distinguishable. The car is expected around the turn of the year. According to the latest reports, the iNext must be able to cover at least about 600 kilometers on one battery charge, although there was also talk of 700 kilometers before.
