BMW reveals the precise specifications of the fully electric iX and also has another great news: there will be a real M version of the iX: the iX M60.
The BMW iX, unveiled at the end of last year, will initially be available in two flavors: the iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50. As the names say, the iX is always four-wheel drive. What we could expect globally from these two versions became clear in March. Now the exact numbers are known.
The iX xDrive40 stamps a power of 326 hp from the two electric motors and gets its power from a battery pack with 76.6 kWh gross capacity (71 kWh net). Enough to accelerate the iX from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Recharging is possible with the 11 kW on-board charger or with a maximum of 150 kW charging power on the fast charger. In the latter case, you need 31 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent full. The WLTP range with a full battery is 425 km. The price was already known: the iX xDrive40 will be available from €86,972.
If you put down a lot more money, you will receive the keys to the iX xDrive50 for a minimum price of €105,472. That also has a lot more in the house than the xDrive40. In the xDrive50, the electric motors squeeze out 523 hp and a battery pack with a gross capacity of 111.5 kWh (105.2 kWh net) is used. The iX xDrive50 only needs 4.6 seconds for the 0-100 sprint and also has a considerably larger range: 630 km according to the WLTP cycle. Recharging is also faster than with the xDrive 40, because the xDrive50 can handle up to 200 kW of charging power. Charging from 10 to 80 percent is done in 35 minutes with that charging capacity. Incidentally, a 22 kW on-board charger will eventually be added to the order list for both versions, but for the time being you have to do it with an 11 kW copy.
iX M60
BMW seizes the moment to put a nice dot on the horizon. There will eventually be a real M version of the iX, the iX M60. BMW can not give precise figures at the moment, but it does let go that the iX M60 will have ‘more than 600 hp’ of power at its disposal. The curtain may still go off this year, but we are already carefully taking into account that the iX M60 will only be available next year. In that case, the first ‘electric M’ will not be the iX, but the recently leaked i4 ‘M50’.
